Final Draft is constantly improving its software products. When we fix things or add features, we post an update on our website.  An update will take the program from, for example, 7.1 to 7.1.1.  UPDATES ARE ALWAYS FREE.  We urge all of our users to keep their copy of Final Draft up to date by updating whenever a new patch is posted.

By contrast, an upgrade from, for example, v6 to v7, is when we re-engineer the program to a significant extent.  The main reason we release upgrades is to ensure that our software is completely compatible with the latest Mac and Windows operating systems, which are themselves constantly evolving.
